MGMA Washington Update

ABOUT THE WEBINAR:
MGMA Government Affairs will provide an update on the current federal policy developments impacting medical practice operations, including proposed changes to the 2024 Medicare payment and quality rules and other key regulatory changes. MGMA Government Affairs will also give an update on congressional activity that has the potential to impact group practices and recent #MGMAAdvocacy efforts. Attendees will have the opportunity to send questions to Government Affairs staff at the conclusion of this presentation.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:

As a Director of Government Affairs, Claire Ernst represents MGMA in Washington DC on a variety of legislative and regulatory issues important to medical groups, such as Medicare reimbursement, telehealth, and federal financial assistance programs available to physician practices. In this role, she informs policy makers in Congress and the Administration of the important role group medical practices play in the healthcare system and organizes grassroots campaigns on issues critical to physician practices. Claire earned a law degree from Suffolk University Law School.

Prior to joining MGMA as Assistant Director of Government Affairs, James Haynes was the Federal Policy Director for the nonprofit organization Veterans Education Success where he worked to support student veterans in higher education. Previously, James held the roles of Federal Policy Manager, Legal Advisor, and Law Fellow within the organization. James received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and is licensed to practice law in Virginia. During law school, James worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Robin Meriweather on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, as well as for the Honorable Wanda Keyes Heard on the Circuit Court of Baltimore City. Additionally, he gained experience as a legal intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia Homicide Division.
